The present and future of the Rossony District are linked to the region's natural potential.
First and foremost, this is the presence of forest resources. The forest cover of the district is 63%. 138.4 thousand hectares of forest fund lands are covered by forests.
The district is among the promising areas for logging valuable coniferous species.
The reserves of mature coniferous stands amount to over 1.5 million cubic meters (pine - 1349.7 thousand m3, spruce - 210.8 thousand m3).
Reserves of mature and overmature soft coniferous stands:
- birch - 830.3 thousand m3;
- aspen - 134.8 thousand m3;
- grey alder - 481.7 thousand m3;
- black alder - 184.1 thousand m3;
- oak, ash, maple in limited quantities.

The annual calculated logging volume for main use is
151 thousand m3. Including:
- for coniferous forestry - 61.5 thousand m3,
- for soft coniferous - 89.5 thousand m3.
5308 hectares are suitable for resin tapping, with an average annual use of 528 hectares.
The forests of the district are rich in berries, mushrooms, technical, and medicinal raw materials.
Possible annual harvesting volumes for berries amount to 13 tons, including:
- blueberry – 10 t;
- cranberry – 2 t;
- lingonberry – 0.5 t;
- bog blueberry - 0.5 t.
Annual harvesting volumes for mushrooms amount to 130 tons, including:
- porcini mushroom – 1.6 t,
- chanterelle – 3.4 t,
- honey fungus – 105 t,
- saffron milk cap - 13.6 t,
- other mushrooms - 6.4 t.
Possible annual harvesting of birch sap amounts to 540 tons, and medicinal raw materials - 2 tons.
45 thousand hectares, or 29.5% of the forest fund lands, are occupied by republican significance reserves.
Northern bird species (capercaillie, redwing, boreal owl) are abundant in the state forest fund, and rare waterfowl species, the red-throated loon and the red-breasted merganser, have isolated nesting sites in Belarus. 10 bird species and 18 wild plant species are listed in the Red Book.
A number of unique species, including the capercaillie, lynx, elk, boreal pygmy-owl, three-toed woodpecker, and others, have the highest population density in the country. Brown bears are regularly encountered.
The balance reserve of gravel and sand material at the Voronino deposit is 310 thousand cubic meters. The extracted gravel and sand resources are used for the production of concrete, construction mortars, and road construction.
For the prospective use of existing peat and sapropel reserves in the region as a raw material base for the needs of sanatorium-resort institutions (as sources of medicinal mud), special research is required to study the qualitative composition of peat.
The region is characterized by a fairly high level of water supply. Water resources include 192 lakes with an area of 8 thousand hectares (hereinafter referred to as ha), the Drissa River with its tributaries Svolno, Nisha, Neshcherda, and other rivers. There are many springs in the area, one of which, "Lazareva Krynytsa," is a hydrological natural monument.
Twenty water bodies are promising for fishery activities, including commercial fishing or commercial fishing with the organization of paid recreational fishing. These include 16 lakes, the Neshcherda, Drissa, and Nisha rivers, and the Klyastitskoye reservoir, with a total area of 5691.7 ha.
The available water resources are sufficient to meet current and future water needs. The lake recreational fund is important for the development of water and ecological tourism. A characteristic feature of the region is the significant area of protected natural territories. Two republican landscape reserves, "Sinsha" and "Krasny Bor," cover an area of 47.6 thousand ha.
The Mezhevskaya Osovaya Gryada reserve covers an area of 111.7 ha. The significance of unique recreational resources is enhanced by the absence of radioactive contamination in the region. In addition to timber, the forests of the region are rich in berries, mushrooms, and technical and medicinal raw materials.
The total area of agricultural land is 26.1 thousand ha, arable land is 13.5 thousand ha, and forest-covered land is 129 thousand ha (forest cover of the region is 74.3 percent).
The resident population is 8523 people, of which 4581 people live in the urban-type settlement of Rossony, and 3942 thousand people are rural population. The number of people employed in the economy of the Rossony district is 3304 people.
