Belarus criticizes FAO approaches to global food security

Since the beginning of the year, enterprises of the Vitebsk region have supplied products to the regions of China under more than 10 commodity items, the Committee for Economy of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee reported.

Commenting on the supplies of products from the enterprises of the northern region, specialists noted that in January-February, the region supplied products to the PRC under 13 commodity items. "Throughout the year and by its end, this nomenclature expands to 20. The Chinese market is becoming increasingly promising for Belarusian manufacturers, including enterprises of the Vitebsk region. Export growth to the PRC regions is gaining momentum," the committee emphasized.

Food products and agricultural raw materials are in particular demand. This includes poultry meat, whey, breakfast cereals, confectionery, and flax fiber. Among other things, additives for lubricating oils, woodworking products, fiberglass, fittings, and linen fabrics produced in the Belarusian northern region are in demand in China.

"The pandemic had a negative impact on the intensification of interregional cooperation, and it is extremely important for us today not only to resume contacts but also to reach a new level of relations. Quarantine restrictions have been lifted in China, and local partners from the provinces with which we have concluded agreements on the development of twin-city relations have been invited to participate in the events of the XI International Economic Forum "Innovations. Investments. Prospects," the committee added.

The forum is scheduled for May 18-19 at the Summer Amphitheater. Delegations from the provinces of Guizhou, Guangzhou, Heilongjiang, Jiangxi, Qingdao, Shandong, and Zhejiang are expected here. As specialists explain, cooperation continues remotely in online mode. Leading enterprises of the regions offer each other their developments and technologies.
