Combating money laundering and financing of terrorism in CIS discussed in Almaty

The state of industrial injuries and the results of the month-long campaign to ensure safe working conditions in agriculture were discussed at a commission meeting at the regional executive committee. The Deputy Chairman of the regional executive committee, Vyacheslav Durnov, took part in the commission meeting.

Since the beginning of the year, the situation regarding industrial injuries in the Vitebsk region has remained stable and manageable, noted Boris Efremov, Chairman of the Committee for Labor, Employment, and Social Protection of the regional executive committee, in his report.

Over 5 months, the overall injury rate has decreased by 7 percent (from 85 to 79 cases). A reduction in the number of fatal and severe injuries has been ensured. The decrease in industrial injuries in organizations of communal ownership amounted to 33 percent, or minus 16 cases across all types. In the agricultural sector, the industrial injury rate has decreased by 28 percent, or minus 7 cases. The number of injuries to workers under the influence of alcohol has significantly decreased – only one such fact was registered, whereas last year there were 10 cases. Regarding the causes, violations of labor protection legal acts, admission to work without training, internships, knowledge testing, failure to provide protective equipment, and non-fulfillment of labor protection duties by managers and specialists still prevail. The proportion of causes due to the actions of the victims themselves remains significant, in particular, their violation of labor and production discipline, violation of instructions, and personal carelessness.

“The region has good indicators, but this is conditional, as even one case of death or disability is an irreversible emergency,” noted Boris Efremov.

At the commission meeting, a number of practical measures were determined, aimed at further consolidating the positive trend of eliminating any workplace injuries. Thematic month-long campaigns, decadal events, and safety weeks are an important link in the system of preventive measures. For two years, the Vitebsk region has been successfully implementing the principles of the Zero Injury Concept. During the safety month for the sowing campaign, no worker injuries occurred. This once again confirms the effectiveness of the preventive measures being carried out.

The Chairman of the Regional Executive Committee has signed a corresponding order on holding a month of safety from June 12 in the organization of student detachments and during mass work on harvesting grasses and fodder crops.
