Belarus to introduce visa waiver for fans coming for 2nd CIS Games
The Park of the 1000th Anniversary of Vitebsk, after reconstruction, now features sports, play, and recreation areas for the whole family. The renovated facility was opened in a solemn ceremony on the regional center's birthday.
Several residential areas of Vitebsk are adjacent to the Park of the 1000th Anniversary, and it attracts many visitors, especially during the summer heat – to sit on the bank of the artificial reservoir, to stroll with strollers along the paths, and for fishing enthusiasts to cast their lines on quiet evenings. The facility had long been in need of major changes, and now, for the city's day, the residents of Vitebsk have received a truly precious gift.
Near the reservoir, a catamaran rental station has appeared for leisurely rides in the company of ducks and seagulls that have chosen this place. In the evenings, a floating fountain will create a special atmosphere with its bright illumination.
Children now have a place to have fun – a spacious modern playground with slides and swings has been set up for them, as well as a play area with outdoor chess and a mini-golf course. Children with disabilities will also be able to relax here, as special inclusive swings have been installed for them. A twisted arch has been equipped for couples in love for romantic photos. Futuristic interactive swings and benches with illuminated canopies can be enjoyed by both children and adults.
Active recreation enthusiasts will also find many useful things here. A multifunctional platform for mini-football and streetball, and a workout area – the sports component of the park is now very strong.
The celebration for the nearby neighborhoods turned out to be especially memorable, thanks in part to the artists who created a festive atmosphere at the opening ceremony. Living sculptures, costumed characters, and actors from the "Koleso" youth theater walking on stilts – children and adults were filled with indescribable delight. An outdoor painting session was organized for young artists, where boys and girls painted the city – carousels, fountains, houses, and fireworks over their native Vitebsk. And a mobile fountain from the rescuers, showering cool rain, became the most popular attraction for visitors to the renovated park on a hot day.
