Belarus' PM leaves for Armenia on working visit

Decorating cities hosting the Day of Belarusian Written Language with original murals has become a good tradition. This year, it was supported in Horadok. It is here, on September 2nd and 3rd, that the jubilee, 30th, festival will take place.

On the facade of the building at 20 Sovetskaya Street, facing the central square of the district center, a mural depicting the coats of arms of cities that have been honored to host the Day of Written Language in different years is being completed. A lift from the local Emergency Rescue Department helps to reach the necessary height for creativity.

Svetlana Mozzharova, Head of the Department of Ideological Work, Culture, and Youth Affairs of the Horadok District Executive Committee, provides details:

– We thank PSU named after P.M. Masherov for the mural design, with the latest one executed in an old style. The head of the district, Irina Polyakova, appealed to the university's rector, Valentina Bogatyreva, who, by the way, is a native of our district, and she responded with enthusiasm! The image application began about a week ago, and the work is now in its final stage.

In total, by the Day of Written Language in Horadok, ten three-dimensional murals with quotes – both from classics of Belarusian literature and famous local writers – will be on display. For example, opposite the "Horadok" cultural and educational center, one can already read the unforgettable "My native corner, how dear you are to me!.." by Yanka Kupala. In the children's park, one can admire a poignant quote by the poet and translator Vladimir Skorinkin, dedicated to his native Horadok district: "I was born on the land warmed by boulders..." Of course, there will be the well-known from school years "Did any of you, brothers, know Taras?.." from the classic poem "Taras on Parnassus." The place for this line from this masterpiece of Belarusian burlesque is most appropriate – opposite the monument to Konstantin Verevkin, the author of the work.

Through the efforts of cultural and educational workers, thematic drawings have even appeared on the boulders at the entrance to the district center, as well as at bus stops in the direction of Horadok – Ostravlyane. Specifically, along the tourist route "On the Paths of Taras." Guests of the capital of the Day of Belarusian Written Language – 2023 will be invited to embark on a fascinating journey through the native places of Konstantin Verevkin.
