Kochanova: Belarus, Uzbekistan have developed fruitful cooperation in all areas

The chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee's Agriculture and Food Committee, Sergey Egorov, outlined three key components for a good winter grain harvest during a regional seminar on corn sowing and silage harvesting.

Heads of district agricultural and food departments, heads of crop production departments and their deputies, and responsible employees of the regional agricultural and food department participated in the field event held in the Dubrovensky district.

“The optimal sowing period for winter grains begins today,” noted Sergey Egorov. “This is especially important for the Vitebsk region, as winter grains always provide us with the main harvest in the total grain yield. This year, the plan is set at 230 thousand hectares, and at the seminar, we are once again emphasizing the importance of the moment and setting specific tasks for each district. The three most crucial aspects are timing, sowing quality, and seed material. Not all farms are systematically renewing their varieties today. Of course, we are not losing sight of fodder procurement. Considering the lag compared to last year, it is important that the work does not stop for a single day. Fieldwork is currently intensive, and all efforts must be made to complete everything qualitatively and on time.”

In the Dubrovensky district, the yield is among the best in the region, and the management always fulfills all assigned plans. This was noted by the head of the committee.
“Grains occupy more than 50% of the total arable land here. This indicates that people are focused on achieving results. It is evident that the organization of work in the district is at the proper level – everyone is mobilized to accomplish the set tasks,” added Sergey Egorov.
On the fields of OAO “Bobrovo-Agro,” seminar participants were able to assess the organization of winter barley sowing and analyze the nuances of its cultivation. The specifics of corn harvesting and silage preparation were discussed at the S.H.F. named after Yu. Smirnov of Orshansky KHP.
