The judges of Novopolotsk received a wonderful gift on the eve of the Christmas and New Year holidays – a renovated building of the city court.

Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Subbotin, First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus Valery Kalinkovich, Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Court Alexander Fedyukevich, and other officials came to share the holiday with the residents of Novopolotsk. Representatives of local authorities, the deputy corps, and builders attended the celebration.

– This event is taking place in our country as part of the development of judicial infrastructure. Belarusian justice has gained much more opportunities for creating modern conditions for working with the formation of a unified system of courts of general jurisdiction. They were entrusted with the functions of both personnel and logistical support for all lower courts. We carry out global reconstruction and modernization projects on an individual basis, taking into account real needs and capabilities. First of all, we focus on facilities that require significant improvement. The Novopolotsk court is not the largest in the country, nor in the Vitebsk region, but today all conditions have been created here that allow the use of modern technologies in legal proceedings, making this process more dynamic and perfect. This is a concern for the people working here and for those who come seeking protection of their rights, – noted Valery Kalinkovich.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Court also emphasized: if we want our justice to be not only lawful, fair, and reasonably swift, but also modern, then it is necessary to create such excellent conditions as have now been created in Novopolotsk. Valery Kalinkovich announced the gratitude of the Chairman of the Supreme Court to the Chairman of the Novopolotsk City Court Elena Vertashonok and the chief specialist of the Investment, Public Procurement, and Logistics Department of the Vitebsk Regional Court Pavel Rogachev.

Approximately 3.5 million rubles were spent on the reconstruction of the administrative building, which was carried out in two stages. The project includes premises rearrangement, installation of a gable roof, a new porch, a ramp, facade cladding, and much more. Courtrooms for criminal and civil cases are equipped with an audio-video recording subsystem, protocolling, and video conferencing. Premises for archives, prosecutors, and lawyers have been set up where they can review cases. A barrier-free environment has been created for the convenience of court visits by persons with physical disabilities, namely: entrance doors are equipped with voice-activated electronic information devices, all information carriers are equipped with visual, auditory, and tactile means, etc.

As Elena Vertashonok noted, the court of Novopolotsk considers about 5,000 cases per year. Previously, it was necessary to work in cramped, adapted premises of the building, originally built as a service center. The modernization fully complies with the standards that meet the technical requirements for high-quality and prompt administration of justice.

The builders tried to complete all the work on time and with high quality. They solemnly handed over the symbolic key to the owners, who thanked them with kind words and gifts.

– It is symbolic that such a significant facility has appeared on the map of Novopolotsk on the eve of the Christmas and New Year holidays. This is another brick in the image of the modern city and the entire region, the result of systematic joint work of the judicial system, legislative, and executive authorities. Someone found the funds, someone designed and built, and all together came to such a wonderful result, – emphasized Alexander Subbotin.
