PM: Belarusian healthcare system has no time to waste given scale of tasks

Veterans and disabled individuals of the Great Patriotic War, as well as those affected by it, residing in the Vitebsk region are planned to receive approximately Br2.2 million by Victory Day. This was announced to journalists by Boris Efremov, Chairman of the Committee for Labor, Employment, and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee.

"The total amount of payments this year for the Vitebsk region will be Br2.2 million," said Boris Efremov. According to him, compared to 2023, the amount of financial assistance has been increased for all recipients.

In total, as of March 1, there are 140 veterans of the Great Patriotic War and 1766 individuals affected by its consequences living in the region. Efforts are made to surround each of these individuals with care and attention, including from the social service. Educational institutions, enterprises, and organizations have been assigned to provide patronage assistance to veterans.

Social service specialists have surveyed the living conditions of these citizens, primarily during the winter period, and have taken into account the wishes expressed by 23 individuals. Their issues have been resolved today. "If a veteran lives in the city, they may have certain problems; if they live in a rural area, seasonal work is approaching. Somewhere, a little help is needed with tidying up a private yard, somewhere agricultural work will soon begin. Therefore, as in previous years, each of these individuals is under the control of the social service and a social worker. It should be noted that all 140 veterans of the Great Patriotic War are served by the social service and are exempt from paying for these services by decision of local authorities," noted Boris Efremov.

Work to identify problematic issues and provide assistance to war veterans and those affected by its consequences continues, he emphasized. Partners assist the social service in this endeavor – veteran organizations, the Union of Women, and the Belarusian Republican Youth Union. "If we cannot resolve a certain problem within the framework of current legislation, these movements come to our aid," explained the Chairman of the Committee for Labor, Employment, and Social Protection of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee. Additionally, together with representatives of relevant organizations, employees of the committee's departments visit veterans and those affected by the war not only on the eve of May 9 and July 3 but also on other significant dates and holidays.

"We are making our contribution," said Boris Efremov. "Even just to communicate, talk, listen – and veterans understand that they are needed and that they are not forgotten. The entire range of activities and opportunities is what we can offer them today (not onlyabout state material assistance), - all this will be done. We will reach every person."

Today, the regional organizing committee discussed the preparation and holding of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Belarus from the Nazi invaders and the victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War.
