Over the first three months of this year, the forestry enterprises of the Vitebsk region harvested 827 thousand cubic meters of wood. This information was announced at a meeting on the financial and economic situation of the region's forestry enterprises with the participation of the Minister of Forestry, Alexander Kulik.
The Head of the Economics and Investment Department of the Ministry of Forestry, Igor Malashevich, assessed the work of the Vitebsk region's forestry enterprises in comparison with their colleagues from the Minsk region. "Your lease payment volume is at the same level as your colleagues from the Minsk region. However, their revenue is one and a half to two times higher. Our analysis has once again shown that everything starts with logging," he noted.
Over the three months, the forestry enterprises of the Vitebsk region harvested 827 thousand cubic meters of wood. This is 9% more than in the same period last year. At the same time, a number of the region's forestry enterprises did not reach their planned targets, and moreover, showed a decline compared to last year's level.
"The equipment in the forestry enterprises remained the same, and in some cases, new equipment was acquired; the same people remained working, but we are reducing the pace. I see no explanation for this," said the General Director of Vitebsk State Forestry Production Association, Yuri Lipsky, assessing the work of the lagging forestry enterprises.
