Over 5m Russian tourists visit Belarus in 2023

The II International Festival of Professional Skills among future forestry workers was held in Polotsk. The festival brought together five teams from educational institutions of forestry profile from Russia (Pskov, Moscow, Novosibirsk regions and Krasnoyarsk Krai) and Polotsk Forestry College. For five days, during the "Logger" professional skills competitions, students demonstrated practical skills in working with a chainsaw and felling trees in a logging area. At the "Forest Trail" quest competition, they showed their knowledge of forestry subjects. And although the Russian guests demonstrated excellent results in individual events, the team of Polotsk State Forestry College, a branch of Belarusian State Technological University, became the absolute winner in the team standings of the "Logger" competition. Bright stars of our compatriots' team were Victoria Korsak (in the photo) – in the "Logger" competition, she took 1st place in the "Saw Chain Assembly" exercise and 2nd place in "Bucking with a Combination Cut". It is noteworthy that girls with the "winning" name are not the first time to be part of the team and worthily justify it. The undisputed winner based on the results of the five exercises of the same competition was Polotsk resident Nikolai Gableev. In the "Forest Trail" quest competition, the team of GAPOU "Interregional Competence Center – S. Korolev Technical School" (Moscow Region) became the leader. The festival became a unique platform not only for young talents who could prove themselves and share their professional experience, but also for teachers who underwent internships at the educational institution. At Polotsk Forestry College, young men and women receive the in-demand specialty of "forestry technician". There is also an opportunity to obtain working professions. For young men, it is a tree feller, and for young women, it is a forest culturist. And thanks to the fact that graduates and students of the educational institution are part of the Belarusian team of tree fellers and have twice become world champions, there is a special interest in this field, including from girls. A club for the working profession of tree fellers called Lumberjack has been led here for several years by Anton Chetyrbok, a teacher of the special discipline "Mechanization of Forestry". He is also the coach of the college teams.
