While young people go in search of happiness in big cities, veterinarian Anastasia Serebro from Beshenkovichi returned to her small homeland after graduating from the Vitebsk Veterinary Academy Agrarian College. Every day, the girl rushes to work with a smile and has no plans to leave. What's the secret?
– The thing is that home is always good, – Anastasia Serebro is sure. – I have loved animals since childhood and know how to get along with them, so choosing a profession was decided quickly. And a competent veterinarian is needed in agriculture.
Indeed, the rural "Aibolit" is always in demand. Local residents trust him completely: he will accurately determine why the milk quality of cows has deteriorated.
– I won't lie, the veterinarian's job is not easy. The work schedule is irregular. An animal, like a human, can get sick at any time. The peak hours are in the evening, when herds return from pastures, – says Anastasia.
To protect themselves from anthrax and rabies, veterinarians regularly receive necessary vaccinations; without them, they are simply not allowed to work. And so that the animal does not injure the veterinarian, simple rules must be followed: do not approach it suddenly; do not shout; establish eye contact and speak kindly.
According to Anastasia, veterinary medicine is in some aspects more complex than human medicine, because an animal cannot say what is bothering it. Conclusions can be drawn based on observations and the words of owners, who often panic and cannot clearly explain what alerted them in the pet's behavior.
– The productivity of farm animals is the main indicator of their health. A sick cow will produce less milk, or its quality will deteriorate, – explains the interlocutor. – It is very important to pay attention to the pet's behavior and condition: cats and dogs may show drowsiness, their coat may lose its shine, and cows, when something hurts them, may even cry.
The young specialist regrets that people do not always consult a veterinarian in time, relying on advice from the internet and pet store employees who do not have the appropriate education. As a result, the animal is still brought to the veterinary station, having lost precious time and spent a lot of money. Anastasia also reminds that proper pet care and necessary vaccinations can help avoid many problems.
In addition to her work, the young woman leads an active social life. She enjoys singing, dancing, and participating in theatrical productions. Last year, she won a republican professional skills competition, and this spring, she visited Sochi and Volgograd as part of the World Youth Festival, representing the regional delegation.
Anastasia is still impressed by this trip. She remembers the Sirius educational center in Sochi, the spectacular sports shows, and the diverse events where she met opinion leaders and pop stars in person.
– I believe that science and kindness will save the world, making it humane and happy, – summarizes Anastasia Serebro.
