Minsk to host international symposium of writers on 12 March
Spring is just around the corner, which means the long-awaited warming is coming. This brings even greater danger to humans on water bodies. This is precisely what we would like to remind you about.
Accidents occur due to people's failure to observe elementary safety rules. Some people are unaware of these rules, while others disregard them. Meanwhile, during the spring flood, they must be followed by everyone. It is common knowledge that under the influence of the spring sun, ice becomes loose and fragile, even though it appears solid. One can easily fall through such ice.
During the flood period, quarries and small bodies of water are very dangerous. Water levels rise, filling the water body, and where it was shallow yesterday, the depth can sharply increase today, posing a significant danger.
During the spring break, children have a lot of free time, which they can use for beneficial activities. However, children often rush to ponds and rivers to skate one last time, slide down steep banks on sleds or tubes, or simply play on the ice. With the onset of ice drift, schoolchildren gather on riverbanks, attempting to walk on the ice and even climb onto floating ice floes. All of this carries great risk and danger to life. Riding on ice floes, logs, or rafts often leads to tragic consequences.
Children do not always realize the dangers that await them, which is why accidents most often happen to children. The responsibility for the life and health of children, especially during school holidays when they have a lot of free time, lies with you, dear parents.
Remember and tell your children:
- it is easy to fall through spring ice;
- ice decay is fastest near the shores;
- spring ice covered with snow quickly turns into a loose mass.
Adults! Do not leave children unattended!
Tell your children about the rules of conduct during the flood period, forbid them from fooling around near water, and stop reckless behavior. A broken-off ice floe, cold water, and fast currents threaten death.
During the spring flood and ice drift, it is FORBIDDEN to:
- go out on water bodies;
- cross rivers during ice drift;
- approach rivers closely in areas of ice jams;
- stand on steep banks subject to flooding and collapse;
- gather on bridges, dams, and weirs;
- approach ice jams, push ice floes away from the shores;
- measure the depth of a river or any body of water;
- walk on and ride on ice floes.
ADULTS AND CHILDREN, OBSERVE THE RULES OF CONDUCT ON WATER BODIES, ADHERENCE TO ELEMENTARY PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES IS THE KEY TO YOUR SAFETY!
OBSERVE THE RULES OF CONDUCT ON WATER BODIES DURING THE MELTING OF ICE AND THE FLOODING OF RIVERS AND LAKES!
