Legislative priorities for Belarusian lawmakers outlined
Belarus is completing the legal formalization of the content of the country's updated military policy, said the Chief of the General Staff - First Deputy Minister of Defense of Belarus Pavel Muraveiko on September 16, presenting the bill "On Amendments to Laws on Ensuring Military Security and Defense" at a meeting of the third session of the House of Representatives of the eighth convocation, according to a BELTA correspondent.
The draft law, in particular, provides for the harmonization of the terminology of the laws of the Republic of Belarus "On Defense", "On the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus" and "On Martial Law" with the provisions of the Military Doctrine, and bringing into line with it the powers of the President of the Republic of Belarus, the Security Council of the Republic of Belarus, the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff of the Armed Forces in the field of defense.
"With the adjustment of these laws, we are completing the legal formalization of the content of our country's updated military policy," Pavel Muraveiko said.
According to the profile commission of the House of Representatives, the tasks of the Armed Forces, the functions of the General Staff of the Armed Forces to ensure military security and armed defense of the Republic of Belarus are being clarified and specified.
The list of military threats that are grounds for introducing martial law in the territory of the Republic of Belarus is being brought into line with the Military Doctrine.
