Cooperation options in the energy sector were discussed during the visit to Vitebsk by a delegation from the Republic of Zimbabwe, led by the Minister of Energy of this African country, Mr. Jullius Moyo.
As explained by Dmitry Lukyanin, Head of the Department of Foreign Economic Activities and International Cooperation of the Ministry of Energy of Belarus, the business trip is intended to identify common ground that meets the interests of both parties. Jullius Moyo familiarized himself with the capabilities of the region's energy sector, visited the Vitebsk Hydroelectric Power Station, the district electric network, and the enterprises "Vitstroytekmash" and "Energokomplekt," where he inquired about their products and the possibility of their use in his country.
The machine-building plant "Vitstroytekmash," which is a leading Belarusian enterprise in the production of lifting and handling equipment, manufactures machinery for various fields, including energy. The Zimbabwean delegation was shown new products, which have no analogues in the CIS. In particular, a lift equipped with advanced equipment was presented, combining the functions of several units of machinery and designed for loading and unloading, construction and installation, repair, and transportation work.
Representatives of the African country also showed interest in the cable and wire products manufactured by the production association "Energokomplekt." Its customer base includes enterprises from various industries: energy, oil and gas, construction, mining, and transportation.
– Countries of the "far arc" are currently one of the promising development vectors for our enterprise, therefore we consider Africa and East Asia as directions in which we will be working in the next five to ten years, – emphasized the company's CEO Andrey Avko. – The horizons are vast. These countries will develop at an accelerated pace.
The head of the enterprise added that it is necessary to work out logistics and other aspects that would make cooperation more profitable. It may be necessary to enter into intergovernmental agreements, such as our country has with Vietnam, where import customs duties have been abolished, or with the United Arab Emirates, where they will be gradually reduced.
And "Energokomplekt" guarantees the quality of its products. The cables and wires produced here will withstand both African heat and northern frosts.
