Andrei Shved elected Chairman of Belarus’ Supreme Court
The Program for the Socio-Economic Development of Belarus for 2026-2030, adopted at the second meeting of the VII All-Belarusian People's Assembly, is a project for the modernization and renewal of all spheres of life. This was stated by President, Chairman of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly Alexander Lukashenko, summarizing the results of the two-day meeting.
At the second meeting of the VII All-Belarusian People's Assembly, a number of new constitutional powers were implemented for the first time. Thus, the composition of the higher judicial instances was updated, and the basic document of state planning for the medium-term period – the program for the upcoming five-year period – was approved.
"The adopted program is a project for modernization and renewal of all spheres of life. It takes into account the achievements of past years, current challenges, and our capabilities. Yes, the tasks set for the five-year period are challenging, but not unattainable. We have never suffered from wishful thinking, we have always made realistic plans, and moved forward steadily, step by step. And the implementation of what is planned is in our hands," the President said.
The Head of State, speaking about the future development of agriculture in the country, particularly noted the merits of one of the participants of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly – Pavel Shutilo, a tractor driver from the "Kukhchitsy" enterprise, who threshed 8 thousand tons of grain during the current harvest campaign, which is an absolute record in the country. Alexander Lukashenko noted that when he managed the agricultural enterprise, they harvested about 3-4 thousand tons of grain there. And here one person threshed 8 thousand tons!
"There is a hero sitting here. He threshed over eight thousand tons!" the President said. The entire hall applauded the tractor driver's achievements.
"I insist that new industries are also needed. If a nation wants to develop, it must not only deepen production in areas where we have expertise, but also create new ones," stated Alexander Lukashenko.
The President focused on the aviation industry: "We know how to do some things because we have been involved in aircraft repair – both civilian and military."
He noted that at one time a decision was made to relocate the civil aviation plant from Minsk to the territory of Minsk National Airport. "We moved this aircraft repair enterprise. This was the first stage. Today, we are ready to expand it, and it proved useful. When specialists from Russia, where aviation is at a high level, came, they were amazed. They looked and said: 'You (in Belarus. - BELTA's note) have specialists, you have excellent production facilities – you need very little to produce aircraft'," the head of state added.
The head of state emphasized that in Belarus, relying on accumulated experience and competencies, it is necessary to develop existing areas in the economy and social sphere more deeply, without inventing anything particularly new. "We have certain development directions. Once, no one paid attention to them, or someone abroad did not pay attention. Today, not only in our fraternal Russia – it's our single market, one might say – everyone has realized that in Soviet times we created excellent schools, specialists, and competencies, as is fashionable to say now. Why should we in Belarus invent something? Is there demand for agriculture? Yes. We need to develop it," the President said.
"We will support the youth. Those who want to work and earn – we will spare neither money nor time for that. But we will support those (who want to work. - BELTA's note) who want to work," the Belarusian leader stated.
"We need to carefully, without alienating the youth, adapt them to labor. If a person experiences what labor is, they will become a patriot and a normal person. They will never run away, as our fugitives did, without thinking. And then they faced the harsh reality," the President said.
"Come out and speak. We are open to this conversation," stated Alexander Lukashenko.
Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party, Oleg Gaidukevich, made a corresponding proposal at the meeting of the Supreme State Council.
"We will think together with the party leaders about which direction the party organization could oversee. It's a good proposal. I am absolutely in favor of it," said the President.
Speaking about shipbuilding, the Head of State noted that at one time the shipbuilding and repair plant in Pinsk was almost ruined. "We had enough sense to preserve some competencies. We are ready to produce small-tonnage or medium-sized vessels there. We have some competencies," he stressed.
Lukashenko recalls digital security, including with a personal example
The Head of State said that recently, for the second time this year, he was personally warned by Russian counterintelligence that certain phones of people from the President's entourage were under surveillance by the US. "There is huge interest," noted Alexander Lukashenko.
The President emphasized that it is necessary to master and develop domestic data processing and storage technologies. And here, it is not so much about making, for example, a domestic mobile phone, but rather about creating our own software. At the same time, according to Alexander Lukashenko, it is important not to ruin wired telephone communication technologies either.
Lukashenko: the main focus in the five-year plan will be on the development of Belarusian regions
"The main focus in the five-year plan will be on our regions. We have 118 regions," said Alexander Lukashenko. "Our people are there. These regions are not abandoned. The centers have been put in order – they are clean and tidy."
The Head of State noted that in microelectronics, Belarus has achieved a real breakthrough thanks to joint work with the Russians. "Thanks to joint production, we have made very serious progress in microelectronics," said Alexander Lukashenko.
As the Head of State emphasized, the "Polonez" needs to be improved, taking into account the development of electronic warfare capabilities, among other things. "The situation has changed significantly. Electronic warfare capabilities are very powerful. We need to protect this missile so that it becomes even more accurate, so that it flies through the window, as I once said. In the coming years, we will receive a more advanced "Polonez", but we must produce it ourselves. We made our own "Polonez" – the latest versions – ourselves. If we can make it, we need to improve it. This is our task – to protect the missile from the impact of electronic warfare systems," he noted.
The Head of State recalled that by the decision of the Sultan of Oman, with whom Alexander Lukashenko has established good personal and business relations, an area of over 200 hectares has been allocated in that country for Belarus to implement a project for the construction of tourist facilities.
According to the President, design work is currently underway, and construction is planned to commence in the coming years. Private investor funding is being attracted for this purpose.
Addressing the delegates, Alexander Lukashenko noted that they all had the opportunity in advance to study and work through the draft program. "I understand that among the delegates there are many people who are encountering such issues for the first time. But being a delegate is a difficult task. And sometimes one has to not just deal with arithmetic, but delve into certain economic problems. But we are delegates. There is no escaping this. This is the essence of our work," he said.
