Belarus, Russia work on innovations to extend lifespan of spacecraft
Inna Medvedeva, Chairperson of the National Statistical Committee, informed journalists before the expanded collegium of the department about the results with which Belstat concluded 2025, BELTA correspondent reports.
"At the expanded collegium, like all government bodies, we are summing up the results of the state statistics development strategy until 2025 and discussing the new strategy until 2030," Inna Medvedeva outlined.
In 2025, Belstat calculated national wealth for the end of 2023 for the first time and constructed a balance sheet of assets and liabilities. At the end of last year, the committee also presented the national multidimensional poverty index, validated by the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative - an indicator that considers not only low income but also other deprivations among less affluent citizens. "We also calculated the length of the cycling network for the first time and studied platform employment, where the client, contractor, and payment interact through a platform," shared the head of Belstat.
The key area of Belstat's work last year was the implementation of Directive No. 11, signed by the head of state. Belstat has changed its status and is now creating a state data management system. Significant progress has also been made in optimizing the SDG monitoring information system. The Head of Belstat emphasized that the national list of SDG indicators is almost fully formed, and the level of harmonization between the national and global lists has exceeded 70%.
"Household surveys conducted have made it possible to bring the data availability indicator to 95%. And today, it is assessed on international platforms as one of the highest in the world. In addition, national data has been validated for more than 20 SDG indicators, and consequently, it is these data that are presented in the UN Global Database," noted the Chairperson of Belstat.
According to her, last year also saw the first comprehensive assessment of SDG progress at the national and regional levels. "It confirmed that already today, for a number of indicators, the Republic of Belarus has not only fulfilled the tasks set by the 2030 Agenda but is also setting more ambitious goals for itself. To ensure an annual assessment of progress, Belstat, together with executive authorities, will review the list of target indicators for regions this year and determine their threshold values for 2030," emphasized Inna Medvedeva.
