On May 6, 2023, in Orenburg, at the park "50 Years of the USSR" ("Orenpark") (Russian Federation), an accident occurred with a "chain carousel" type attraction.

According to information from the Internet, on May 6, 2023, in Orenburg, in the park "50 Years of the USSR" ("Orenpark") (Russian Federation), an accident occurred with a "chain carousel" type amusement ride (hereinafter referred to as the Amusement Ride).

From video footage posted on the Internet, it is evident that before the crash, the Amusement Ride had managed to reach a significant speed, after which the vertical telescopic column abruptly lowered, causing the chain-suspended seats (passenger modules) with passengers to fall to the ground. Approximately 19 people were injured, 11 of whom were hospitalized, including minors.

Official information regarding the manufacturer of the Amusement Ride and the possible causes of the incident is not available.

To prevent accidents, incidents, and injuries during the operation of "chain carousel" type amusement rides, the following measures must be carried out by May 31, 2023:

1. Conduct an additional comprehensive inspection of "chain carousel" type amusement rides in accordance with the requirements of clauses 172, 178, 181 - 185, 187, 188 of Chapter 8 of the Rules for ensuring industrial safety of amusement rides, approved by the Resolution of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus dated December 27, 2019 No. 67;
2. Inform the Vitebsk Regional Directorate of Gospromnadzor of the inspection results by June 1, 2023, using the following form:

1. conduct extraordinary briefings for attraction operators and other personnel authorized to work on attractions, with particular attention to daily checks of the technical condition of attractions, procedures in emergency situations (accidents, injuries, and other incidents), including in accordance with the requirements of the Instruction on the procedure for investigating and recording accidents that occurred with users of potentially dangerous objects: elevators, escalators, passenger conveyors, passenger ropeways and attractions, with the exception of the investigation of industrial accidents, approved by the Resolution of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus dated January 6, 2023 No. 6, and entered into force on February 18, 2023.
