Veterans of the Great Patriotic War are keepers of truth and a counterbalance to those who deny the genocide of the Belarusian people and whitewash Nazism. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the state awards ceremony, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"I am very glad that today in this hall there is a wonderful woman belonging precisely to the war generation. This is Valentina Baranova. A front-line soldier who reached Prague, a telegraph operator, an athlete. Valentina Petrovna, in November you will turn 5 times 20. One can only dream!" - noted Alexander Lukashenko.

Valentina Baranova participates in the work of the Grodno veterans council and leads an active lifestyle. In her person, the President thanked all veterans and war participants. "A deep bow to those who fought on the front lines, fought the enemy in occupied territories, survived in concentration camps, and worked selflessly in the rear," said the head of state.

"And I have a big request for you, even a combat mission: live as long as possible, continue to educate our youth. Without you, it will be very difficult for us," Alexander Lukashenko addressed the veterans. "People like you are now worth their weight in gold. You are keepers of truth. You are a counterbalance to those who deny the genocide of the Belarusian people, whitewash Nazism, whatever guise it may take."

Valentina Baranova, in turn, admitted that she was glad to see the President not on screen, but in person. "Thank you very much for making our Belarus strong and free, an independent, prosperous, and peace-loving republic during your rule. This is the most important thing!" she emphasized.

The veteran also addressed the ceremony participants: "My dears, thank you very much to you too! After all, you are the generation that has come to replace our generations – the war participants. We will leave this life, you will remain. And together with Alexander Grigoryevich, you will continue to build our peaceful, happy life."
