Lukashenko sends National Day greetings to people of Sweden

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated the people of Sweden on their National Day on behalf of the Belarusian people and himself. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader.

"Two centuries of peace, which ensured neutrality for your people, and non-membership in military alliances contributed to the building of a developed, independent, socially oriented state. Unfortunately, this policy of Sweden, which could have become a saving example for many countries in Europe and the world, is disappearing. Militarization, modern illegitimate sanctions against neighbors only lead to increased tension and instability in the region, undermining the economic well-being of the Swedes. I am convinced that despite all political contradictions and disinformation campaigns against Belarus, our peoples will maintain good relations built on the pursuit of social justice and respect for honest labor," the congratulatory message reads.

The head of state emphasized that Belarus is sincerely interested in resuming political dialogue with Sweden, based on equality and mutual respect.

"Only through expanding cooperation in economic, humanitarian, environmental and other sectors can Belarusians and Swedes contribute to achieving peace and strengthening security in European countries," Alexander Lukashenko noted.
