Belarus, Russia urged to draw up self-reliant economic plan

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko proposes that the governments of Belarus and Russia think over an economic plan based on their own capabilities. He stated this at a meeting with President of Russia Vladimir Putin, a BELTA correspondent reports.

"Regarding the economy, I would like to ask you once again for our governments to think over some economic plan. The essence is to rely on our own capabilities. We will not bend to anyone. We have enough brains. We have more than enough resources. And we need to build a development plan for our Fatherland. As I say: two states, one Fatherland. And we can do it. But the main forces are here - in Russia - since ancient times. And if our governments develop such a plan, it will be good," said the head of state.

"And even if things are a little worse for us, people will understand and support us. Because they will see the light at the end of the tunnel," the Belarusian leader is confident.

Moreover, the countries have already begun to work in this direction, developing cooperation in such areas as microelectronics, space, and agriculture. "And everywhere we see good progress. So we need to combine this into a plan, appoint those responsible. And with this, we will strategically fulfill our work," said the President of Belarus.
