Lukashenko sends Independence Day greetings to India

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko congratulated President of India Droupadi Murmu and the country's Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the national holiday of the Republic of India - Independence Day. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader.

"It is gratifying to note that the dialogue between Minsk and New Delhi is conducted in a spirit of equality, mutual interest in deepening cooperation and its practical content. This is evidenced by the launch of regular flights between our countries by Belavia airline, the interest of Indian partners in creating joint ventures in the field of agricultural machinery, electric transport and pharmaceuticals, as well as the strengthening of fruitful scientific, educational, tourist and cultural ties. I am convinced that thanks to joint efforts, this positive trend will continue, including through visits at various levels," the congratulatory message to Droupadi Murmu reads.

The congratulatory message to Narendra Modi emphasizes that Belarus has always been and will remain a reliable friend and partner of India in the European region. "Over the years of our interaction, we have been able to build effective ties in the fields of economy, trade, industry, science, technology and culture, and today we are opening new areas of cooperation in addition to the existing large-scale projects," the President noted.

Alexander Lukashenko confirmed Minsk's commitment to expanding dialogue with New Delhi not only on a bilateral track but also within international organizations: "We are very grateful to India for the work done to join Belarus to the SCO and expect the Indian side to ratify the relevant memorandum soon, so that we can become a full member of the organization in the near future. We are also interested in joining the BRICS dimension, in connection with which we have sent an application and hope for your support in this matter."

The head of the Belarusian state noted that he would be glad to meet with Narendra Modi in Minsk or New Delhi or to hold negotiations during international events to discuss ways to elevate Belarusian-Indian relations to the level of strategic partnership.
