Lukashenko supported the initiative to hold the CIS Regions Forum

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko supported the initiative to hold the CIS Forum of Regions. He announced this at the CIS summit in Bishkek, according to a BELTA correspondent.

The Head of State noted with satisfaction the signing of the Agreement on Trade in Services and Investment in the CIS this year.

"I am convinced that this is a timely, important document. In line with these documents, and as a continuation of those adopted earlier, I propose to intensify work on expanding interregional economic cooperation. Today, Shavkat Miromonovich (Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan. - BELTA note) said a good phrase: "If we don't hinder the regions, and even help them in some ways, they will solve many problems without us."

"This is our unconditional and in-demand potential. We have experience," said the Belarusian leader. "The initiative proposed earlier by the Republic of Uzbekistan to hold the CIS Forum of Regions is relevant and requires prompt practical implementation. This should become one of the priority tasks. The Commonwealth states have the necessary experience and groundwork in a bilateral format."

Alexander Lukashenko noted that Russia will chair the CIS in the future period, and during this period, regional leaders can gather there and start working, and it will be a good event.
