Lukashenko proposed to Venezuela to revise cooperation and develop a roadmap for the future

Belarus and Venezuela need to review various areas of cooperation and develop a roadmap for the future.

This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko on October 17 at a meeting with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ivan Gil Pinto, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"It's good that you have come to Belarus, it is very timely. I think we don't need to introduce ourselves to each other, we don't need to talk about our capabilities and Venezuela's capabilities in our cooperation. We have known each other for a long time and have done a lot in our time to intensify our interaction," Alexander Lukashenko noted.

The President pointed out that due to certain reasons (primarily external), interaction between the countries has been put on hold. "I feel that we need to review all those areas and issues of cooperation that we defined back in the days of Hugo Chavez. We must unequivocally determine what we should and can do for Venezuela, and what Venezuela should do regarding Belarus. Develop a corresponding plan, a roadmap for our actions for the near and medium-term, and perhaps long-term prospects," the head of state stated. "If other states, for example, Cuba, have to be included in this cooperation scheme, we agree. In short, if you agree, then by the end of the year, we will be ready, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will be ready to implement these agreements."

Ivan Gil Pinto first of all conveyed warm greetings from Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro to Alexander Lukashenko. The head of the foreign ministry noted that he fully shares the opinion of the President of Belarus regarding the relations between the two countries - they are quite strong and have gone through more than 20 years of strengthening. The entire spectrum of cooperation between the two countries was discussed yesterday at a meeting between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Belarus and Venezuela, Ivan Gil Pinto recalled. According to him, the parties have outlined plans for the near future.
