Lukashenko announced a visit to Equatorial Guinea

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko intends to pay a visit to Equatorial Guinea. The head of state announced this at a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and the Diaspora of Equatorial Guinea, Simeon Oyono Esono Angue, as reported by a BELTA correspondent.

"Fortunately, we have been working very intensively with your country recently to develop a concrete plan for our relationship. I will definitely try to visit you in the near future. This has already been planned. We will sort out the dates. But the most important thing is that we have a clear understanding of how to build the economy and trade and economic relations between our countries," Alexander Lukashenko emphasized.

As previously reported, the President of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, paid an official visit to Belarus in early September. The visit program was very busy and included official negotiations with Alexander Lukashenko at the Palace of Independence, signing of bilateral documents, visits to enterprises, and familiarization with the capabilities of Belarusian manufacturers.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and the Diaspora of Equatorial Guinea arrived in Belarus at the head of a large delegation. The delegation also included ministers of agriculture, livestock and rural development, health and social security, forests and environment, social housing and urban planning, deputy ministers of trade, industry and business development, culture, tourism and handicrafts, finance and budget.

In Minsk, on October 18-19, the governments of Belarus and Equatorial Guinea held the first meeting of the joint permanent commission on trade and economic cooperation. In parallel, the interstate procedure for the entry into force of the framework cooperation agreement was completed.

The parties consider agriculture and food security (supply of machinery, equipment and food products, agricultural technologies, fertilizers, professional training of personnel), information technologies, healthcare, education, tourism, construction, development of the service sector, small and medium-sized businesses, and the creation of production facilities in the woodworking industry as priority areas of cooperation.

Belarus views Equatorial Guinea as a gateway to West and Central Africa. The issue of establishing a production and logistics hub for Belarusian products there is being worked out, which will also be used for the supply and promotion of goods to neighboring countries.
