Lukashenko Signed Laws Amending the EAEU Treaty. What is Changing in the Union's Activities

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed the Law "On the Ratification of the Protocol on Amendments to the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union of May 29, 2014". This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Head of State.

This Protocol grants the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council additional powers. These powers concern the determination of general principles for establishing liability in the legislation of the EAEU countries for violation of mandatory product requirements, the procedure for applying for observer status in the Union, the procedure for the possible introduction of emergency phytosanitary measures by the parties, and the development of a joint action program in the field of consumer protection.

The Head of State also signed the law on the ratification of the protocol on amendments to the Treaty on the EAEU regarding the provision of financial assistance in the implementation of joint cooperation projects. It provides for the possibility of the EAEU Council making a decision on financial support for projects from the Union budget.
