Lukashenko calls for intermediary-free logistics with Russia’s Kamchatka

It is necessary to find opportunities to establish logistics with Kamchatka without unnecessary intermediaries. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at a meeting with the Governor of Kamchatka Krai of Russia Vladimir Solodov, a BELTA correspondent reports.

The Head of State warmly welcomed the head of the Russian region, noting that this is his first visit to Belarus in this capacity. "I really hope, despite the considerable distance, that this will not be the last (visit. - Ed. BELTA)," the President added. "You said it very correctly: 'If you go to good people, the distance shrinks.' I want you to know that you have come to the most decent and reliable people for any Russian."

A representative, solid delegation arrived with the governor, which, according to the President, indicates great goals and serious intentions. In this regard, the Belarusian leader assured the Russian side of his readiness to "get involved and do the maximum" for the development of cooperation.

At the same time, the geographical remoteness of Kamchatka from Belarus should not hinder the solution of diverse tasks, friendship and cooperation, Alexander Lukashenko is confident.

"I am convinced that we will find opportunities to build our relationship without unnecessary intermediaries. And thereby we will achieve that the products we supply there and back will be much cheaper," the Head of State emphasized.

On possible participation in a grandiose project

Speaking about promising projects, the President mentioned a grandiose idea for the construction of the Penzhina tidal power plant in the Sea of Okhotsk. "We have certain competencies. If we are useful to you in terms of design and construction of this facility, we will be happy to take part in this landmark construction," said the Head of State.

On establishing direct supplies of fish and seafood

Alexander Lukashenko noted that the Kamchatka Territory is famous for its unique marine resources. "It will be very correct and beneficial if we try to establish cooperation in this area," the head of state believes. He said that when visiting Russia, particularly the Far East, he was often interested in the supply of fish products from such remote regions to Belarus. "Everyone tells me that you can extract, sell, and purchase products somewhere closer," the President said. "But we would like you to try supplying these products from you. We have a large deficit in this regard." The head of state proposed that specialists work out the issue of direct supplies of fish products, excluding unnecessary intermediaries.

A promising model for the development of cooperation, according to him, could be the creation of processing industries in Belarus by the Russian region. "If it is profitable, we can try. We will create the most favorable regime for working and supplying your products anywhere you find it profitable," the head of state said.

The President emphasized that investments of conscientious business in Belarus are reliably protected by the state.

In addition, Belarus has a large network of trade and logistics complexes equipped with everything necessary, including access roads, storage and sorting facilities. "At your service, if there is a need for this. If you want to build something here yourself, we will provide appropriate support," Alexander Lukashenko offered.

On assistance in supplying Kamchatka with meat and milk

Among the areas of cooperation of mutual interest, the President also named the agro-industrial complex. "Taking into account your plans to increase Kamchatka's self-sufficiency in milk and meat, we are ready to provide the necessary equipment for agricultural complexes and dairy farms," Alexander Lukashenko noted.

Belarus also has extensive experience in creating dairy production facilities, including baby food.

On tourism potential

The meeting also addressed the development of tourism potential. "The Kamchatka Territory is the dream of any traveler, including myself," said Alexander Lukashenko. The President noted that there was a time when both Russians and Belarusians were keen on foreign trips. But recently, fortunately, the volume of domestic tourism has been growing, especially in Russia. And in 2023, Belarus was visited by over 1 million Russians.

"In short, Vladimir Viktorovich, we are ready to discuss any issues that interest you and make a decision," the President emphasized. "If you are interested in some enterprises - all doors are open, to all plants, factories... See what you like, we are ready to support you and cooperate with you mutually - to buy and sell."
