Lukashenko called the All-Belarusian People's Congress Belarus's political nuclear weapon

President of Belarus, Chairman of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly Alexander Lukashenko on May 23 received reports from Deputy Chairman of the APB Alexander Kosinets and Head of the APB Secretariat Valery Mitskevich, BelTA correspondent reports.

"I asked you to seriously consider with interested and responsible persons how we will build a system of work with the delegates of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly. We needed to decide on the structure as well: how we will operate in the Secretariat and what the overall structure in the country will be. Structure and system," Alexander Lukashenko outlined the main issues. "We need to plan our work, so work plans will be important for us - both for the Presidium of the APB and for the delegates as a whole."

The Head of State inquired about what has already been done in this direction and what issues still need to be resolved. "What is needed from me in this case to launch this machine? But the main thing is communication (your communication, my communication, the Presidium's) with the delegates of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly, so that they do not feel detached and alienated from the issues they need to resolve. It is very important for us to show society and the delegates that they should not substitute for other government bodies," emphasized the Chairman of the APB.

At the same time, Alexander Lukashenko stated that appeals from citizens are already being received and will continue to be received by the governing bodies of the APB. They cannot be dismissed, of course, the President stressed.

"These appeals should primarily be handled by the delegates of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly. But appeals are not all the same. Ordinary appeals from citizens to executive bodies, the Presidential Administration – that's one thing. The All-Belarusian People's Assembly is a completely different body, which does not repair fences and roofs, but nevertheless, we cannot dismiss people's appeals by saying it's not our business. Therefore, the work must be structured in such a way that if a person appeals to the All-Belarusian People's Assembly, we can forward this appeal to the relevant bodies for resolution. But the main thing is to show people that this is not the job of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly. The All-Belarusian People's Assembly is a kind of political nuclear weapon, which is used in exceptional cases, if an extraordinary meeting needs to be held. These are decisions of a purely strategic nature – not fences and not roofs, not even balconies. But at the same time, we cannot dismiss people. Therefore, we need to establish such a connection with the delegates so that, by communicating with them, we can convey this or that appeal of our people for resolution," the Belarusian leader noted. Alexander Lukashenko also touched upon the work of the Presidium of the All-Belarusian People's Assembly – how this body will build interaction with the delegates. "I think that you will not be in constant communication with each delegate, but rather with groups... What will these groups look like? We need to think about it and structure this work. And then we will hold a meeting of the Presidium and approve all of this," he said.
