Lukashenko arrives in Russia’s Irkutsk

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has arrived on a working visit to Russia. The Head of State is visiting the Irkutsk region, BELTA correspondent reports.

The aircraft of the Belarusian leader landed in Russia from Chinggis Khaan International Airport in Ulaanbaatar. Alexander Lukashenko was on a state visit to Mongolia, during which official negotiations between the presidents of the two countries were held in narrow and expanded formats. Agreements were reached on expanding cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, supplying food and industrial products of domestic enterprises to the Mongolian market, and joint work in the agro-industrial complex.

Alexander Lukashenko also familiarized himself with the history, unique traditions, and customs of the Mongolian people.

Upon arrival in the Russian region, the Head of the Belarusian State was met at the aircraft ramp by the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Siberian Federal District Anatoly Seryshev, Governor of the Irkutsk Region Igor Kobzev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Dmitry Krutoy, and other officials.

Belarus and the Irkutsk region have long-standing and strong relations in various fields. This Russian region has been a long-standing and important partner for Belarus in trade, investment, and cultural spheres.

As is known, Belarus and Russia pay special attention to the development of their own aircraft manufacturing. The Russian aviation industry faces the task of implementing large-scale projects to increase the production volumes of civil aircraft. Belarusian enterprises have long been involved in implementing this task, assisting with the supply of aviation components, assemblies, and units.

Other areas of cooperation include forestry and construction. In addition, Belarusian mining and quarrying equipment, trucks, and passenger transport may be of interest to the Irkutsk region.
