Lukashenko sends Independence Day greetings to Pakistan

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, on behalf of the Belarusian people and himself personally, congratulated the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari, the Prime Minister of this country Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and the Pakistani people on their national holiday – Independence Day. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Belarusian leader.

"Our countries have been developing cooperation based on partnership and trust for many years. This year, we celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and held a number of bilateral events, which, I am confident, will contribute to the flourishing of Belarus and Pakistan," the congratulatory message to Asif Ali Zardari reads.

In his congratulatory message to Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the President of Belarus thanked him for supporting Belarus's accession to the SCO and confirmed his readiness for further fruitful work on international platforms.

"I am confident that the organization of joint events, determined during our conversation in Astana, will allow us to start a new stage in the development of bilateral relations," the head of state emphasized.

Alexander Lukashenko expressed hope for meetings with the leaders of Pakistan during his visit to Islamabad and for discussions on steps to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation between the two states.

The President of Belarus wished the leaders of this country good health and success, and Pakistan – prosperity, peace, and progress.
