A basic social tariff for mobile communication for the population will appear in Belarus

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed Decree No. 335 "On the Provision of Cellular Mobile Telecommunication Services" on August 26, the press service of the Belarusian leader informed BELTA.

In order to improve the accessibility of mobile communications, including in rural areas, the head of state has decided to establish mandatory requirements for mobile operators regarding the quality and coverage of the services they provide. Mobile operators will be held liable for violating these requirements.

In accordance with the document, mobile operators will be required to allocate a portion of their profits to the construction of new towers, the modernization of existing facilities, and other measures to develop cellular communication networks, which will increase the coverage area and signal stability.

In addition, the decree provides for the introduction of a basic social tariff for the population, the cost of which will be under state control and will be affordable for all categories of citizens.
