Lukashenko: District Executive Committee Chairmen Do Not Bear the Load They Should
Chairpersons of district executive committees are not carrying the workload they are supposed to. This was stated by the President of Belarus, Chairman of the Supreme State Council Alexander Lukashenko on November 19 at a meeting of the Presidium of the Supreme State Council, according to a BELTA correspondent.
One of the agenda items for the meeting was the issue of enhancing the status of chairpersons of district executive committees in order to strengthen their role in the development of districts. A corresponding draft decree was submitted for the President's consideration, and he decided to discuss it at the Presidium meeting. Especially considering the additionally invited participants, including top officials and heads of regional executive committees.
"Since everyone is present here to consider this issue, so as not to gather again unnecessarily and given the importance of the issue of the status of the chairperson of the district executive committee. You have probably often heard (I have often spoken about this) that our chairpersons of district executive committees are not engaged as they should be. They are not carrying the workload that chairpersons of district executive committees are supposed to carry," the Belarusian leader stated.
He noted that the criterion in this regard is the President's directive "One District - One Project," regarding which not everyone at the local level is acting effectively: "This is the effectiveness of our government, from the President down to the governors. But we will return to this issue."
