"Satisfied so far with how they are playing." Lukashenko commented on the performance of the hockey club "Dinamo-Minsk"
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, during a meeting with Governor of Yaroslavl Oblast Mikhail Evraev, commented on the performance of Dynamo-Minsk in the Kontinental Hockey League, as reported by a BELTA correspondent. Touching upon humanitarian cooperation between Belarus and Yaroslavl Oblast, Alexander Lukashenko noted the successes of athletes from this Russian region. Specifically, the conversation turned to the Yaroslavl hockey club Lokomotiv, which won the Gagarin Cup in 2025.
“You won the Kontinental Hockey League championship last year. I believe it is a very strong championship on a global scale. It practically does not yield to the NHL, and this year it has become even stronger. I am satisfied so far with how the Minsk Dynamo players are performing. But there is something to strive for, looking at your Lokomotiv,” said the head of state. “You are great, I am not saying this to flatter. After all, Dynamo-Minsk is a national, republican team. And you, in competition with the regions of Russia, were able to equip your team, in this case, a hockey team, and show what Yaroslavl is capable of. Well done, I really like your team.”
The President noted that winter sports are generally popular in Yaroslavl: “I don’t know if you have snow or not, but winter sports are very popular in Yaroslavl. I know this from my early presidential years.” At the same time, he believes that Yaroslavl will prove itself not only in hockey. “Soon they will beat us so badly in football that it will be embarrassing to talk about later. Therefore, there is something to learn from,” added Alexander Lukashenko.
