President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has appointed Dmitry Gora as Prosecutor General. Until now, he headed the Investigative Committee, Belta correspondent reports.
The vacancy in the post of Prosecutor General arose after Andrei Shved, who headed the prosecution bodies, was elected Chairman of the Supreme Court at the second meeting of the VII All-Belarusian People's Congress on December 19 of this year.
Dmitry Yuryevich Gora was born in 1970 in Tbilisi (Georgia). In 1993, he graduated from the Military Red Banner Institute in Moscow with a degree in "jurisprudence", and in 2018 - the Academy of Management under the President of Belarus with a degree in "public administration and economics".
From September 1993 to April 2008, he served as an investigator, senior investigator, and investigator for particularly important cases in the investigative department of the KGB Directorate. Then he was appointed head of the investigative department. He held this position until July 2008.
August 2008 - November 2009 - Head of the Third Department of the Operational-Analytical Center under the President of Belarus.
From November 2009 to December 2019 - Head of the Investigative Department of the KGB.
From December 2019 to March 2021, he held the position of Deputy Prosecutor General.
In March 2021, he was appointed Chairman of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus.
