Lukashenko orders snap army inspection. Here’s how it works
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko is conducting a snap inspection of the Armed Forces' readiness, a BELTA correspondent reports.
As part of a large-scale inspection of the combat readiness of the Belarusian Armed Forces, one of the mechanized formations, the 19th Separate Guards Mechanized Brigade, is being inspected.
The primary goal of the inspection is to obtain an objective picture and assess the real state of the troops, and to evaluate the performance of military personnel. This is precisely why the measures are being taken on a snap basis. A key feature of the inspection is its organization. The Head of State personally puts military units on combat alert, bypassing the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff.
The system is structured as follows: the President signs a "secret" order outlining the plan for the upcoming inspection. The State Secretary of the Security Council receives a sealed package with the document and then travels with employees of the State Secretariat to the military unit designated by the Head of State.
The State Secretary promptly reports the inspection results to the President, and a detailed analysis is conducted based on the findings. "In accordance with the inspection plan, one of the mechanized formations of the North-Western Operational Command was suddenly put on combat alert in peacetime strength. A group of employees from the State Secretariat arrived and handed over the order signed personally by the President," said State Secretary of the Security Council Alexander Volfovich.
