Lukashenko expresses political support for Brazilian president ahead of upcoming election
President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko expressed political support for the current President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in connection with the upcoming elections in that country. The head of state announced this at a meeting with the Ambassador of Brazil, Bernardo Klingel, BELTA correspondent reports.
"Brazil is going through an important political moment. As far as I am informed, you will have general elections this year. You will elect everyone possible. Frankly, I don't envy you in this, because it's a difficult period. But we are very concerned that the current President of Brazil retains his post in these elections. As far as I am informed, he has confirmed his participation in these elections," said the head of state.
"We will do everything possible to ensure that the elections take place in a calm and peaceful atmosphere in the interests of the Brazilian people, if this is necessary for Brazil. If it is needed," assured the President of Belarus.
