President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has stated the need for further strengthening the country's defense capabilities. This was the subject of a meeting on equipping the Armed Forces and developing the military-industrial complex of the Republic of Belarus, a BELTA correspondent reports.
Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that in modern conditions, only a state that is primarily capable of ensuring its military security can be considered self-sufficient. "Whether we want it or not, I have long warned the Belarusian people about this, and you know it even more, we will have to strengthen our defense capabilities," the head of state said.
"The buildup of military components at our borders, especially from the side of Poland, does not just concern us. We understand that this is not done just like that. People do not spend money on tanks and ammunition just like that. Therefore, at one time, I made a decision, taking into account the special military operation of the Russian Federation, to engage in strengthening our defense capabilities on an even more serious scale," the President said.
