President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko notes the positive results of cooperation between the special services of Belarus and Russia, including in terms of technical re-equipment. He stated this at a meeting with the Director of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Russia, Sergey Naryshkin, a BELTA correspondent reports.

"In connection with various events in the world, and not the least reason for this is the anti-terrorist special military operation of the Russian Federation - an operation that forced us to look at all structures of the силового блока from all sides. As I often say, if this hadn't happened, we would have had to invent something to spur us on somewhere. In this regard, we started working actively. But the threats are very serious. Sometimes incredible," said the Belarusian leader.

Alexander Lukashenko noted that special services sometimes cannot keep up with everything due to the rapid development of various technical means. In this regard, certain issues may arise. He thanked the Russian side for the assistance provided in re-equipping and equipping the Belarusian service. "You have probably noticed that recently we have been exchanging intelligence data more intensively. And the quality of information has improved. This is primarily due to the increased activity of the State Security Committee. But an important role is also played by the fact that the Russians are very serious, and you, above all, are helping us in technical intelligence. What's the point of hiding it, today, without technology, it's unlikely to get good, reliable, solid information," said the President.

"But people should understand: we are not from God, we cannot foresee everything," the Belarusian leader noted. - Both we and you have all sorts of scoundrels appearing within society, on whom foreign terrorists are betting. You can't call them otherwise. This is not intelligence, not counterintelligence, these are simply our enemies. They (opponents and enemies abroad. - BELTA note) find suitable people in our camp, as is commonly said, and focus on them."

Alexander Lukashenko recalled the recent detention of a terrorist who "worked under cover, carrying out tasks for the Security Service of Ukraine on their orders and instructions." "The most important thing, what angers me the most, is that we have already detained over 30 accomplices. Where are they from? They are former and current scoundrels, who live in our society (I cannot call this filth anything else), who help commit illegal acts. Especially terrorist attacks on their own land, against their own compatriots," the President said.

"Therefore, we have a lot of work to do. But I want to assure you that we are absolutely open to cooperation. You feel and see this. And we are grateful to you for the information you provide us, and for keeping us on our toes regarding certain issues in a timely manner. I think we will have deeper cooperation ahead, and you can count on us in those areas where we can do something," the head of state summarized.

In turn, Sergey Naryshkin thanked for the opportunity to meet. "I am very glad to be on the hospitable Belarusian land again. Today, together with Ivan Stanislavovich (Chairman of the KGB of Belarus Ivan Tertel. - Editor's note), we will hold another joint meeting of the collegiums of our two special services. I would like to emphasize that our interaction is equivalent, representing equal mutual interest. We have something stronger in some areas, and our Belarusian colleagues have something stronger in others," he said. "Indeed, in recent years, we have seriously strengthened our cooperation in order to identify and prevent all external threats facing our countries, facing the Union State of Belarus and Russia. We have quite serious plans to move forward in this direction, to help, first of all, the political leadership of our countries, based on the intelligence information we gather, to make well-considered, accurate strategic decisions."
