Sentence for poaching

On 03.12.2022, during field control activities, employees of the Verkhnedvinsk Inter-district Inspectorate for the Protection of Fauna and Flora detained a poacher. A resident of one of the villages in the Verkhnedvinsk district illegally hunted one adult red deer using a metal snare.

The incident occurred within the hunting grounds of the Volynetsko-Shayterovshchyna hunting lease of the "Verkhnedvinsk ROS" RGOO "BOOR" near the village of Grulevo, Verkhnedvinsk district. The man illegally hunted one adult red deer using prohibited hunting tools - a metal snare. With his unlawful actions, the poacher caused environmental damage equivalent to 300 base units, totaling 9,600 rubles.

Based on this fact, the Verkhnedvinsk ROKS initiated a criminal case under Part 4 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus.

In March 2023, the Verkhnedvinsk District Court found the aforementioned citizen guilty of hunting without proper authorization, using prohibited tools and methods (illegal hunting), which resulted in damage of a particularly large scale, and based on Part 4 of Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus, imposed the following sentence:

- Restriction of liberty for a term of 2 years without referral to an open-type correctional institution, with deprivation of the right to engage in activities related to hunting for a term of 5 years, and a fine of 100 base units, amounting to 3,700 rubles.
