We call on those who care about watering trees and shrubs

The Rossony District Inspectorate of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection urges concerned residents of the Rossony District to water the saplings of planted trees.

Many people think that trees grow on their own once they are planted in the ground. However, the heat leaves no chance for the trees themselves – those we rely on for protection. Even old trees, which have already reached groundwater with their roots, suffer from it, let alone newly planted young saplings.

We are currently facing a serious environmental problem – climate change. Year after year, temperature records are broken worldwide, with extremely high temperatures being recorded even in the Arctic. The so-called "urban heat island effect" is also observed, where air temperatures in cities and suburbs are higher than in intercity areas. This is due to road surfaces – asphalt and concrete accumulate high temperatures.

Previously, summers were moderate, with occasional rain, allowing trees to root and develop normally. Now, under the scorching sun, temperatures in cities reach +30 degrees Celsius. What plant can withstand this? Especially a young sapling with an underdeveloped root system.

It is not enough to build a house, have a child, and plant a tree. A house needs care, a son or daughter needs to be raised, and trees need to be watered. A tree that has grown and flourished by summer can be killed by the heat in a few days. If trees are not watered in the summer, it nullifies all previous efforts, and the saplings simply dry out.

Therefore, watering trees today is the only way to save them.
