On the prohibition of the destruction of bird nests

In order to prevent violations of legislation in the field of protection and use of wildlife, the Rossonsky District Inspectorate of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection informs that in accordance with Article 19 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Wildlife", the distribution and numbers of birds that worsen the sanitary and aesthetic condition of settlements, residential, industrial, cultural and household buildings and structures, or cause inconvenience to residents of settlements, may be regulated by destroying nests of birds located on plantings in settlements, residential, industrial, cultural and household buildings and structures during the period from August 15 to February 15.

From February 16 to August 14, the destruction of bird nests is prohibited and entails liability provided for by the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offenses and other legal acts. Thus, Article 16.23 of the aforementioned Code provides for administrative liability for illegal destruction of bird nests in the form of a fine of up to thirty basic units, for an individual entrepreneur - from ten to one hundred basic units, and for a legal entity - from twenty to five hundred basic units. In addition, in case of illegal destruction of wild animal habitats, compensation for environmental damage is made, which is determined according to the rates provided for in Appendix 9 to the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus dated April 11, 2022 No. 219 "On rates for determining the amount of compensation for environmental damage and the procedure for its calculation".
