Protected Areas

In Belarus, specially protected natural areas occupy more than 1.9 million hectares.

By the end of 2025, the 5th illustrated edition of the Red Book of Belarus will be released. It includes 218 species of wild animals and 310 species of wild plants.

Based on the recommendations of scientists from the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, 58 species of wild plants were excluded from the previous list of rare and endangered species in Belarus, and 5 new species were added.

Regarding wild animals, the statistics are as follows: 13 new species have been added and the same number has been excluded.
