Belarus's Water Resources: Figures, Facts, and Care for the Future!

The Republic of Belarus is renowned for its rich water resources, which represent immense value for present and future generations. According to fund data, there are over 20,000 watercourses within the country, including large and small rivers, as well as streams of varying lengths.

Picturesque lakes complement this landscape, numbering over 10,000, each representing a unique natural object that attracts tourists and researchers.
To support the natural water circulation cycle and minimize the consequences of climate change, a large number of artificial reservoirs have been constructed in Belarus. Approximately 6,000 ponds and 87 reservoirs are in operation here, designed for water storage, accumulation, and flow regulation.
