Extended meeting of the board on the organization of the collection and processing system of municipal waste

An expanded meeting of the board was held at the Vitebsk Regional Committee for Natural Resources and Environmental Protection to consider the issue of organizing a system for collecting and processing municipal waste.

For reference: Municipal waste means all waste from consumption, as well as waste from production, included in the list of production waste related to municipal waste, established by the Ministry of Housing and Communal Services.

On May 20, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko held a meeting on waste management and the use of secondary material resources.

The main topics of the meeting included the need to intensify work on extracting secondary resources, developing a deposit-refund system for packaging, producing RDF fuel from waste, and assessing the performance of the secondary material resources operator.

In order to fulfill the instructions of the Head of State given during the meeting, the Government has developed and approved an action plan, which includes about 30 measures in various areas.

On August 18, 2025, by Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus No. 444, the Strategy for Waste Management of Production and Consumption in the Republic of Belarus was approved.
