Waterfront parking

The Rossonsky District Inspectorate of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection reminds about the inadmissibility of parking mechanical vehicles within 30 m horizontally from the shoreline, unless otherwise established by the legislation of the Republic of Belarus (sub-clause 1.11 of Article 54 of the Water Code of the Republic of Belarus).

In Belarus, parking cars near water is regulated by the Water Code: it is forbidden to park within 30 meters of the shoreline, except for specially equipped places and roads, and in the coastal strip (0-10 m) parking and movement, washing, and other economic activities are generally prohibited without permits.

In accordance with Articles 53 and 54 of the Water Code of the Republic of Belarus, prohibitions and restrictions apply within the boundaries of water protection zones and coastal strips, and the following are not permitted:

• washing of transport and other technical means outside designated areas;
• parking of mechanical vehicles, except for specially designated parking areas for mechanical vehicles established in the prescribed manner, and in their absence – at a distance of at least thirty meters horizontally from the water's edge;
• technical maintenance of transport and other technical means;
• disposal and storage of waste, except for authorized temporary waste storage sites;
• felling of trees, removal of vegetation.

Liability for non-compliance with the above requirements is provided for by Part 2 of Article 16.34 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Belarus in the form of a fine of up to 10 base units, for an individual entrepreneur – up to 25 base units, for a legal entity – up to 50 base units.

How to avoid a fine:

• Look for equipped parking lots before beaches or recreation areas where there are signs allowing parking.
• Maintain a distance of 30 meters from the water's edge.
