In the latitudes of Polotsk and Braslav, a rare phenomenon could be observed – the Northern Lights
These days, an unusual celestial phenomenon for our region ✨ is being actively discussed on social media. Residents of the Vitebsk region and other regions of Belarus are sharing videos and photos of the aurora borealis on the popular social network TikTok. The short clips capture shimmering greenish and pink reflections over the night horizon, unusual light streaks, and barely perceptible iridescence.
Typically, this phenomenon is familiar to residents of northern regions, but during strong geomagnetic storms, the aurora can appear much further south – as far as Belarus and Central Europe. And now, during a G4 level geomagnetic storm, the probability of seeing the aurora at the latitudes of Polotsk and Braslav has sharply increased.
