On the plans for the liquidation plugging of unused boreholes for 2026

Annually, work is carried out in the region to plug unused water intake wells.

Wells that have fulfilled their purpose and are unsuitable for further operation due to geological, technical, sanitary, or economic reasons are subject to decommissioning.

For 2026, the plugging of 207 unused water intake wells of agricultural organizations is planned, funded by the local budget.

The process of decommissioning a well is a complex and responsible event that must be carried out in accordance with the requirements of laws and regulatory documents.

Decommissioning of a borehole well is a set of technical, design, and environmental protection measures aimed at taking the well out of operation, reliably isolating aquifers, and reclaiming the territory to prevent pollution of the subsoil and the environment.

Decommissioning is carried out in accordance with the requirements of Article 74 of the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Subsoil and in accordance with the project developed according to the norms and rules of rational use and protection of subsoil GeoNiP 17.05.03-011-2025 "Environmental Protection and Nature Management. Subsoil. Rules for carrying out activities related to the conservation, deconservation, and decommissioning of boreholes intended for the extraction of groundwater," approved by the Resolution of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of the Republic of Belarus dated February 14, 2025, No. 1-T (as amended by the Resolution of the Ministry of Natural Resources dated June 20, 2025, No. 6-T).
