Why do animals need feeding in winter?

When the forest is covered in snow and natural food sources are hidden under a snowy blanket, it becomes difficult for animals to find sustenance. Supplementary feeding helps them survive the harsh months, maintain their health, and preserve the balance of nature.

However, it is important to remember: feeding must be done correctly.

Do not give animals food that humans are accustomed to: bread, buns, salty products, or processed seeds are dangerous for their stomachs.
The feed must be natural and suitable for the specific species: grains, hay, vegetables, mineral salt licks.
The location of feeders is also important – they should be in safe places where animals can feed peacefully, not in drafty areas near roads or people.

Proper winter supplementary feeding is an act of care for forest dwellers, preserving their strength and health.
