A ban on the destruction of bird nests has been introduced

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection hereby informs that from February 16 to August 14, the destruction of bird nests is prohibited. Violation of this prohibition entails liability in accordance with the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offenses and other legislative acts.

Thus, according to Article 16.23 of the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offenses, illegal destruction of bird nests is punishable by fines:

for an individual – up to thirty basic units;

for an individual entrepreneur – from ten to one hundred basic units;

for a legal entity – from twenty to five hundred basic units.

In accordance with Article 19 of the Law of the Republic of Belarus "On Wildlife", during the period from August 15 to February 15, it is permitted to regulate the spread and numbers of birds that cause harm to components of the natural environment, as well as deteriorate the sanitary and aesthetic condition of settlements, residential, industrial, cultural and domestic, and other buildings and structures, or cause disturbance to residents of settlements, by destroying their nests located on plantings in settlements, residential, industrial, cultural and domestic, and other buildings and structures.
