In 2025, 68 accidents involving wild animals were registered on the roads of the Vitebsk region

— The most frequent forest dwellers involved in accidents are elk and roe deer. Accidents with other wild animals are rather rare. One such example is from the Dokshytsy district, where a traffic accident involving a bear occurred in the spring of 2025. The bear ran onto the highway passing through the Berezinsky Biosphere Reserve and was hit by a tourist bus.

Until February 15, a set of measures aimed at preventing accidents related to speeding, driving into the oncoming lane, and violating overtaking rules is being carried out in the region. Checks will also be conducted using the republican public safety monitoring system and other forms of control.
