In Belarus, the number of wild animals has significantly increased in recent years

In recent years, the population of wild animals in Belarus has significantly increased:

Elk: +50% (from 33 to 43 thousand individuals)

Roe deer: +70% (from 82 to 137 thousand)

Red deer: increased 3-fold in 10 years and 10-fold in 30 years (up to 53 thousand). Over 1900 individuals were resettled in 5 years.

Bear: almost 1300 individuals (in 2025)

Lynx: increase from 1600 (2024) to 2556 (2025)

Badger: about 3 thousand individuals

Bison: 9 individuals resettled.

Ecosystem Restoration

The project for the reintroduction of the Tarpan horse (151 individuals) is being successfully implemented. Over a thousand nesting sites have been created for birds, which increases the survival rate of capercaillies and black grouses.
